Justice LED (Leaders Engaging and Developing)
Recently, thirty justice-seeking UCC members from across the US met in Cleveland to take part in a pilot training program developed by the UCC Justice and Witness Ministries staff. The program, Justice LED (Leaders Engaging and Developing), is designed to equip congregations with theologically and biblically grounded tools to address local, national and global social justice issues in their communities.
The Rev. Liana Rowe of Phoenix, who is in covenant with Shadow Rock UCC, is one of the members of this pilot group. Rowe is paired with Maria Rosario Ibarra of the Southern California Nevada Conference to continue the rollout of the program and share the training with the next tier of trainees.
A preliminary goal is to bring all Justice LED trainees to the 2011 General Synod in Tampa. Look for announcements seeking applicants to participate in the next tier of training after the first of the year.
