2008 Ministry Retreat
Greetings!
I shall be brief.
Plans are being made for the 2008 Persons in Ministry Retreat. The dates
are set.
We will begin with
lunch at noon on Sunday, Oct. 26, for those serving in Non-Parish
Ministry. We are in contact with the Association of Professional Chaplains
to see about the possibility of awarding Continuing Education Units to
Chaplains in attendance, and will forward information about that to all as
we receive it. Specific programming for Non-parish clergy will be the
focus through Monday noon.
Beginning at 2:00 PM
on Monday, Oct. 27, and running through 11 AM on Wed., Oct. 29,
programming for all Persons in Ministry (including any Non-Parish clergy
who can stay) will begin.
Reverends Len
Silvester, Sue Joiner, and Lee Milligan have agreed to serve on a planning
team. We will be meeting soon to organize the retreat.
We have decided
there will be no keynoter this year, but that the retreat will focus on
building a relationship with each other and with the newly arrived
Conference Minister, who values highly the work of our Persons in
Ministry, relationships with them, and the care of their spirits.
There will be time
for worship, spiritual formation, reflection, dialogue, dreaming, play,
rest, and recreation. (If you are a fisherperson and have a license, bring
your gear and fish Oak Creek!)
The setting is a
quiet little retreat center in Cornville AZ, Living Waters. It is perfect
for removing ourselves from the work-a-day world. Nestled along the Oak
Creek, it is surrounded by mountains with spectacular views from just
about anywhere in the camp.
Please plan on
joining us. Your presence will certainly enrich our time together. As
Persons in Ministry, we work hard in service to the church. Respecting our
need for retreat, for collegiality, for prayer and spiritual formation can
be a gift not only to ourselves, but to our churches.
Registration
material is below.
Please register as soon as possible so that we can begin to confirm plans
with the facility.
Humbly yours in
Christ,
Rev. Dr. John C.
